 Oregon City Police and the City of Oregon City will be utilizing The CodeRED Emergency Notification System if there is an emergency in our City.

How CodeRED ® Works

The City of Oregon City utilizes the CodeRED Emergency Notification System to inform and advise community members in time of emergency. CodeRED uses a high speed telephone calling system that delivers customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to homes, businesses, cell phones, and answering machines, at the rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. CodeRED is capable of determining whether a call was answered by an actual person, an answering machine, or not answered, and tracks these addresses in case the emergency situation requires door to door notification.

How CodeRED ® is Used

Emergency Management and Public Safety officials including the Oregon City Police Department and Oregon City Public Works Department may use the CodeRED system to provide you information on the following types of events:

What to Expect If you receive a message from the CodeRED Emergency Notification System

You should expect to receive the following information during the pre-recorded call:

  • "This is a CodeRED Emergency message from the City of Oregon City."
  • The date and time of the call
  • The scope of the emergency
  • The area(s) effected by the emergency
  • Action that you need to take
  • Directions on where to get more information.
